My sweet sister-in-law gave me the idea for the name of this post. Beyond the Kitchen Table will appear on Saturday’s and will be a view into our week, things that are on my mind and heart and other random things. I hope you enjoy!

Last Saturday, Pete and I were able to go on a date thanks to Nan! What a treat! We enjoyed Chipotle, a walk around Target and a trip to Sweet Frog!

Sliced Sweet Potatoes
I do not like cutting up sweet potatoes. I wish there was an easier way to cut them! If you know of a quick and easy way, please share! At least the soup they were for was worth the pain of slicing them! And if you like sweet potato fries, check out this method of baking them. I had no idea!

This was the hit recipe of the week. This stir fry came together so quickly and easily. Stephen inhaled it! Emma just ate the rice. When I was putting Stephen to bed he asked when we were going to have it again because it was “super yummy.” I’d say that’s a win!

Did you see this pie for pi day (3.14) on Thursday? If not, check it out. It’s incredible!

Emma
Emma is quickly learning how to use the iPad. Oh boy!

On Friday night, we went out to Sweet Frog with the kids and Nan. I am so thankful that Nan was able to help me while Pete was working!

March is full of birthdays for us here in our home. My daughter is turning 2! It seems like just yesterday this picture was taken.

My husband and I also have birthdays this coming week.  I am thankful for another year with my family. I could not ask for more!

Flowers

My parents are in town for the long weekend. It is so nice to have them here for a little bit. We all had dinner tonight around my brother and sister-in-law’s table. My sister-in-law made this incredible dessert. You should really try it!

The flowers in the picture above were the centerpiece. My sister-in-law always does such a nice job decorating her tables. But what I noticed was not the flowers but rather the clock right behind the flowers.

This clock made me think of a couple of things in relation to time.

First, these past 2 weeks have been trying for many different reasons. But, no matter how trying the time has been God has watched over and protected us along the way.

Second, I am so grateful that my brother and his wife now live so close. What a blessing. And God planned that out in his time.

Finally, I am thankful that my parents are here to visit to spend time with us. We miss them greatly and cherish the time we have with them here.

Enjoy the time you have with your family and loved ones this weekend!
